We’re back with the next edition of the “Soompi & Viki Staff Talk” series! This time, some of our staff members are preparing K-dramas with kissing scenes of memorable intensity.

Here are the dramas our team members mentioned:

Warning: spoilers ahead

Yoon: “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim

When I was asked this question, a drama immediately came to mind. Most K-drama fans are probably familiar with some of the legendary scenes from 2018’s much-loved rom-com “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim.” In this webtoon-based drama, Seo Joun Park stars as Lee Young Joon, the narcissistic vice president of the family business, while Min Young Park is his secretary Kim Mi So. Their romance begins unexpectedly when Kim Mi So announces her resignation as Lee Young Joon suddenly realizes he can’t live without her. As they develop their relationship, their displays of affection become bolder, leading to that monumental scene above that has over 300 million views on YouTube (roughly a hit K-pop music video ).

Ginny: “Now we break up

One drama that crosses my mind for this question is the 2021 drama “Now We Are Breaking Up.” In the very first episode, Ha Young Eun (hye kyo song) spends the night with Yoon Jae Guk (Jang Ki Yong) in a hotel as strangers as shown above, kicking off their romance on an intense note. When Jae Guk asks her name, she leaves the room saying that they will never see each other again. She later realizes after meeting him at work that it was Jae Guk she had spent the night with. Ha Young Eun and Yoon Jae Guk continue to meet, so their romance is inevitable. The romance between these two adults is portrayed very well, and there are also a lot of sweet scenes like when Jae Guk surprises Young Eun with gifts while waiting outside her house without notice just to see her face through the window. Despite their families’ disapproval and unexpected secrets, they only seem to grow their feelings, which makes it interesting to see how their romance develops.

Sum: “Wife of the Water God

You can’t talk about K-dramas with hot kiss scenes without mentioning “Bride of the Water God”! Features of “The Bride of the Water God” Nam Joo Hyuk like the water god Ha Baek who descends from the world of the gods to meet his human consort. Shin Se Kyung plays Yoo So Ah, a human who is part of a family destined to serve the god of water for generations. This drama features several intense kissing scenes, but my top pick would be the one above which begins when Nam Joo Hyuk gets jealous of Shin Se Kyung caring for his patient Shin Hoo Ye (I am Joo Hwan). If you want to see Nam Joo Hyuk in a more mature romance than his role in the recent hit “Twenty Five, Twenty One,” this drama may meet your needs.

Winny: “The red sleeve

There are plenty of steamy scenes in K-dramas, but they can be a bit rarer in historical dramas, which makes them much better! In the drama “The Red Sleeve”, 2PM’s Lee Junho plays the role of the perfectionist young prince Yi San. He soon becomes king, but he can’t help but fall in love with a young woman from the palace, Sung Deok Im (Lee Se Young). Although they struggle to overcome their social class differences, their romance offers plenty of adorable bickering scenes and also passionate kisses that helped make this drama a major hit. If you’re a fan of historical K-dramas, “The Red Sleeve” is a must-watch!

JJin: “Melo is my nature

Although the romance between lead couple Im Jin Joo (Chun Woo Hee) and Son Bum Soo (Ahn Jae Hong) in “Melo is My Nature” is softer, supporting the characters Lee So Min (Lee Joo Bin) and Lee Min Joon (Kim Myung Joon) are a different story. This particular scene above is made more romantic and meaningful due to the characters’ back stories and their genuine feelings for each other. Lee So Min is a celebrity, while Lee Min Joon is his manager, and the two have been friends since high school. They finally admit and express their love for each other in episode 10, and they passionately share a kiss on the couch in the following episode. Their conversation between kisses is hilarious, endearing and sincere. If you like friends between lovers and romantic celebrity dramas, this couple will make your heart race even with their short screen time! A fun fact is that they were friends before they even started filming the drama – it makes sense that their chemistry on the show is amazing.

Natalie: “Answer 1997

I think all my childhood-to-lovers trope fanatic friends can agree that one of the best of the genre is “Reply 1997.” Sung Shi Won (Jung Eung Ji) and Yoon Yoon I (Seo to Guk) have been friends for as long as they can remember when they finally realize there’s more than just friendship between them. Their love story isn’t always great – they have ups and downs – but what’s undeniable is that these two are made for each other! In the latest episode, Yoon Je asks the big question: “Will you marry me?” Shi Won gives a shy yes and can barely look Yoon Je in the eye, but he kisses anyway. The reason this kiss is the absolute hottest is that it wasn’t just physical, but was a milestone in their decades-long relationship of friends and lovers. Fans who had been following Episode 1 were so relieved and thrilled to find out that the couple got married, which made the kiss even better. And of course, the two actors have incredible chemistry. “Reply 1997” is quite a family drama, but if you’re planning on watching this episode…you might not want to watch it with your parents!

Jessy: “Standby

Thinking of more recent K-dramas, I want to mention “Eve,” a K-drama filled with love triangles, temptation, revenge, and of course, hot and steamy scenes. Lee Ra El, played by seo-yeji, loses his family through a traumatic tragedy. She plans to get revenge on Kang Yoon Kyum (Byung Eun Park), a wealthy CEO embroiled in her tragic past. Lee Ra El decides the best way to do this is to lure Kang Yoon Kyum to be his lover and force a divorce from his current wife. Among the many fiery scenes in the drama, one of the most memorable would be the backstage kiss scene in Episode 4. This scene is where Lee Ra El refuses to walk away from Kang Yoon Kyum and decides to be her lover. He is also drawn to her temptation and they share a deep kiss behind the scenes. This dangerous romance is sure to keep you hooked!

Hall: “My roommate is a Gumiho

What I love most about “My Roommate Is a Gumiho” is that there are a lot of sweet and steamy moments between the lead couple played by Jang Ki Yong and girl’s day Hyeri. “My Roommate Is a Gumiho” is a fantasy romantic comedy about a 999-year-old gumiho man named Shin Woo Yeo (Jang Ki Yong) who moves in with Lee Dam (Hyeri) after accidentally swallowing the magic pearl that made him human. The drama starts light with some cute banter from the couple as they get to know each other, but the fantasy element brings in some surprising twists to heat up the romance!
